Removing Backboard off Little Tike Basketball Hoop?

My son is not happy with the height of his Little Tyke Basketball Hoop. I was going to take the backboard off the pole, and connect it to the wall, but I can't seem to get the backboard off. It is very securely attached, but I also don't want to ruin the pole. Can anyone tell me how to get the backboard off the darn little yellow pole?

Chain saw it.

Sydney Andersen was just a toddler when her father, Jack, bought her a Little Tykes basketball hoop.

At age 2, Sydney started honing her basketball skills. At age 4, she started playing on various children's teams, her mother Kellie said.

And now as an eighth-grader at Enumclaw Middle School , there isn't a day that goes by that Sydney does not have a basketball in her hands, according to mom.

It's not surprising, then, that Sydney sailed easily through each stage of the Knights of Columbus' Annual Free Throw Championship to eventually snag the prize in her 13-14 girls age group in March. From the local competition back in January, through districts in Puyallup to regionals in Burien and then state in Yakima, Sydney continued to take the top spot, and she continued to dissuade her mother, Kellie, from attending.

She was afraid mom might jinx her, but "I was chomping at the bit," recalled Kellie. "I wanted to go and she was like 'no mom.'"

So Kellie settled for watching the Enumclaw Hornets select team that Sydney plays on -- it was the first game she'd missed after playing with the Hornets for three years -- while dad Jack took Sydney to the competition.

"Fifteen minutes through the first game, he [Jack] sent me a text with a picture of 'your state champion,'" Kellie said.

No Father-Daughter Dances

The bond through basketball with dad Jack was formed early. When asked who was the bigger basketball fan in the house, Sydney was quick to reply her father was.

Jack enjoys watching all basketball, said Kellie, while she prefers watching youth basketball and women's teams. "I always think it's more fun when you're watching your own child," Kellie said. An ideal day is when the whole family can watch one of Sydney's select team tournaments, she said. "We have a lot of fun and have met a lot of great people."

The Little Tykes hoop in the family backyard aside, Jack jokes that "instead of father-daughter dances, we'd go to [Seattle] Storm games."

Toddler Tuesday- Toys!

  We also keep his little tikes car there and his bean bag for watching TV (a great way to keep him from standing too close to the TV). We keep the big toys in the toy box and all the small pieces (blocks, cars, little people, puzzles etc) go in...   At one point we had all the toys in the toy box, but the smaller ones would always fall to the bottom making it hard for him to get to.   The smaller blue bins have made play time and pick-up time a lot easier.   In his corner in the living room we keep his toys to a shelf and a “toy box”.   The two animal bins on the bottom shelf are filled with smaller toys (like one is filled with Legos). The low shelf in his room is packed with books (that blue middle bin is even filled with board books).   We’ve had “paper” books out along with board books since he was born, so we never have a problem with him ripping or mistreating the books. His room is also supper organized, while still trying to keep toys and books accessible.   We’ve dealt with the situation by (1) giving The Spawn the bigger bedroom (2) keeping the toys to a minimum and (3) being organized.   This not only makes it easy to organize, its also easy for The Spawn to find the toys he wants without getting frustrated.   The big green bucket is filled with stuffed animals and toys that he doesn’t play with daily....
