Firefighter talks about 2-month-old left at station
By: Eddie Garcia, KOB Eyewitness News 4We're hearing from an Albuquerque Fire Department paramedic who helped take care of a baby left at a fire station Wednesday afternoon.
Police are still trying to get a hold of the biological mother, who most likely is out of state.
Albuquerque fire paramedic Clint Anderson is a family man.
Considering he has his own kids, child care is second nature.
The same goes for his colleagues.
"The majority of us are all dads in the station so we had a great deal of sympathy as we saw the kid walk in," said Anderson.
That two-month-old baby boy arrived Wednesday with two women.
They had been caring for him for almost three weeks.
"They had brought the baby to us ultimately because they ran out of means to be able to take care of the baby," said Anderson.
This isn't how it was supposed to turn out.
The women explained the biological mother temporarily left the baby in their care before she took off for Louisiana, and she hasn't been heard from since.
Now it was up to Anderson and the guys to take care of the little-tike until CYFD arrived.
"We'd take turns holding the baby and caring for him and you know - no shortage of love," said Anderson.
No shortage of sympathy from Anderson, who understands the joy children can bring.
All-in-all, an unusual but welcome departure from the daily duties of a firefighter.
"This was the best of all circumstances considering the alternative we see often in the streets," said Anderson.
Police say if the mom is found, she could be facing charges. In the meantime, the baby is with a foster family.

Hopefully, the adults in her life contacted the police and the police radioed each other until the lost parties were once more reunited. Looking around the milling people on that outdoor parking garage, I noticed a young mother a ways off looking around anxiously. Soon a little boy, about three years of age came over to where I was sitting and started to climb over the railing. When our eyes locked upon each other, she then spotted her son climbing the rail beside me. Immediately she was beside us, chastising the boy for having run off. ” I had to ask the little tike. As I asked him the third time, “Hey, little boy where’s your mum. So, I am left with one question, how are you going to walk down a crowded street and not constantly check that your daughter is beside or close behind you. Maybe the answer lies in the fact that Dallas Mavs fan had waited 13 years for this championship and the parade was too much excitement for one inattentive parent. For fear of my child becoming lost in a crowd of 250,000 people, I surely would. Because, although the cooler had wheels, the cooler was too large for her to have brought to the parade by herself. The first case came when I was uptop a parking garage sitting on a support pillar’s railing.
